A property of Rockstar North, GTA San Andreas is the seventh video game in the Grand Theft Auto series. It is the follow-up to GTA Vice City and a prequel to GTA III and Liberty City Stories. GTA San Andreas first graced the video games scene on 26 October 2004 for PlayStation 2. On 7 June 2005, it became available for Xbox and Microsoft Windows.

About GTA San Andreas
Plot
GTA San Andreas centers on the unexpected return of Carl Johnson (CJ) following his mother’s death. Johnson finds himself entangled in the activities of a criminal gang (Groove Street Families) which he once led. What follows is a rivalry with another gang (the Ballas and the Vagos) for supremacy.
Characters and Gameplay
While many characters appear in GTA San Andreas, Johnson is the most customizable of them all. He can, for instance, change his hairstyle, tattoos, clothes and body mass. He can be muscular or skinny too. In effect, this creates room for multiple story lines, a significant shift from both GTA Vice City and GTA III. Gang members are identifiable by tattoo, hand signs, and clothing. This aspect of the game is helpful in two ways. First of all, it makes it easy for the police to identify a victim or gang set. It also allows gang members to interrelate with each other. Every gang has a unique way of marking its territory including wall graffiti, street warning or through acts of violence. Taking over a rival gang’s territory involve wars. Killing all the members of the opposing side in sight wins the battle. Apart from Groove Street Families, the Ballas and the Vagos, other gangs in GTA San Andreas include the San Fierro Rifa, Triads and Dan Nang Boys led by Wu Zi Mu. There’s also the Russian Mafia, even though its appearance isn’t of much significance to the game’s storyline.
Setting
GTA San Andreas transpires in the early 90s, which happens to be the time when Los Angeles was dealing rampant scandals and the famous riots. It is also during this period that LA was grappling with C.R.A.S.H a police force known for terrorizing residents. The green Sabre Drive shooting also inspired the game's storyline.Many aspects of the game are from Menace II Society.
