Plot and Characters
GTA Vice City revolves around Tommy Vercetti, a protagonist who’s on a mission to acquire a significant stake in the city’s criminal underground. Vercetti is acting on the orders of Sonny Forelli, the overlord of the Forelli Crime Family. He is to ensure that the family gains off the profits of increasing drug trafficking business in Vice City.
Upon his arrival in Vice City, Vercetti, now in the company of Lee, and Harry meets Ken Rosenberg who is to drive them to the Vance brothers for a drug deal. The deal, however, is waylaid and Victor Vance (one of the Vance brothers), Lee and Harry lose their lives. The money and the drugs disappear in the fracas as well.
Vercetti, with Rosenberg’s help, embarks on a well-orchestrated plan to find out who was behind the attack. In his quest to uncover the truth he meets Ricardo Diaz who hires him as a bodyguard. It turns out Diaz organized the ambush. Vercetti teams up with Lance Vance (Victor Vance’s brother) and kills Diaz, eventually taking over the control of Vice City drug trade, and chooses to distance himself from the Forelli Crime Family.
Sonny gets impatient and comes to Vice City in person to claim his share of proceeds from the business. Vercetti tries to give Sonny fake money, only for his plan to fail. A fierce gun battle ensues between the two sides. Eventually, Vercetti kills both Sonny and Vance and is lucky to escape with only a few bruises. After everything settles down, Vercetti declares himself as the undisputed kingpin of the Vice City drug dealings. He then makes Rosenberg as his chief assistant.
